5/10 Field Day!
May 10th will be a field maintenance day. Murdoc will be in charge of organizing this. Please post what you have for tools and supplies. Those with trucks please try to get pallets, they are free at the paper company and Home Depot. If you see any new home or consturction sites do some dumpster diving. Also trash day too. Lets plan on a 9-10 am start.
No games! Bring gloves, racks, whatever you got!

Also if anyone has a hibachi or maybe Neil's parents will let us use the grill to cook some dogs and what not.

We need a sawsall to cut the tires in half and bolts to bolt them. This way we can just tip them to get the water out. Also I know the canvas bunkers sucked, but the above linked fabric might work better! And would be a cheap way to build some bunkers and makeshift buildings.
Also we need some coffee cans, quick concrete, and a post/hole digger.
And what do you all think of clearing the field down to just the trees if we can? Take out as much plant growth as we can...

Re: 5/10 Field Day!
I have a sawsall, and post hole digger. Ill look around for some cheap fabric that will work have tons of time. How did you hear of stuff at lowes?? Someone else use it before?? Ill take a look at it tomorrow. I like the idea with making buildings. I could make up some frames so you could make different rooms Like in a Swat house. But to make it cheaper just make entrance ways and leave sides open but taped off. If ya have any other ideas of stuff that might work let me know always need something to go look at during the day. I have heavy duty racks, Shovels, machete, clippers, Ax, and other crap. Problem is we need power for sawsall and if we could get power i have hedge trimmer make quick work of bushes(If someone had a generator.).

Re: 5/10 Field Day!
I'm really glad to see that there is a lot of interest in fixing up the field in preparation for the coming months. I may actually try to get down to the field before 5/10 in order to pave the way for getting more work done that day. The way I see it, our major priorities are the following:
1. Clear as much brush and extra tree branches as possible from the open areas and borders of the field. This will clear better paths and enable us to do two things: block the path to the playground, and build natural bunkers on the lower side of the field (the side that dickhead destroyed all our bunkers on before). For this job, we will need weedwhackers (Neil's father generously offered his for our use), gas-powered hedge trimmers, rakes, rope, a sledgehammer (for driving stakes in building natural bunkers), a machete, hatchet, and chainsaw. Anyone who has access to any of these, please speak up!
2. Build new, movable bunkers out of the tires that are currently behind the alamo. We can try to get more tires from Saturn if that is possible (Goose, get back to me on that). We will, as Goose stated, need to drill holes in the tires for drainage, and to bolt them together. Cassanova said he had a drill that will work for this, and also said he could find some fasteners that will work for attaching the tires together. Phantom, if you want to come up with ideas for building cloth bunkers, knock yourself out! That is a great idea, and I love the idea of having a fold-up mock-up of a room or rooms for CQB drills. Let me know what ideas you have, I would love to hear them!
3. We need to clear as much of the old, damaged bunker equipment as possible. This includes the doors that were broken, and all of the busted glass. This means shovels, rakes, buckets. Some of this we will be able to re-use, but most of it has outlived it's use and needs to be discarded. Perhaps we can use some of it in blocking off the path to the playground? Once again ideas are welcome and needed.
4. Get pallets for the re-building of the bridges across the creek and new bunkers.
The general idea for re-making the field is that the lower side has to be all-natural bunkers or movable bunkers that we will be able to place for games and remove afterwards to keep the dickhead at bay. The upper side we can re-make using all sorts of pallets and barrels and anything else that you guys can lay hands on. I am very excited about this, and know that we can re-vamp the field to make it even better for regular play and drills, as well as an example of our team's pride in what we love to do - SLING PAINT!

Re: 5/10 Field Day!
I am going to try to make it down there on Saturday the 25th to do as much raking and general clearing as I can. I will check with Neil on this, but the reaction I got from his family to the plan tells me it will probably be ok.

Re: 5/10 Field Day!
Well cant make it on Saturdays (family time hehe) But ill work on those fold able bunker ideas. I can build some here and easily get them there. Im thinking 6 foot tall 3 to 4 feet wide x2 hinged. If I could make 6 of em could easily make a door and hallway for breaching plus use em as reg barriers to. Now all we need is some wood chairs a large office desk and some fake ferns and we would have a sweet office to breach.
